UIBE Law School Held the Opening Ceremony of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Dispute Resolution Legal Practice Training Class

On the morning of November 30, 2019, an opening ceremony was held for the fourth BRI dispute resolution legal practice training course, part of the 100-member foreign-related legal training program jointly sponsored by UIBE and the Foreign Affairs Committee of Beijing Lawyers’ Association (BLA). Dean Mei Xiaying, Vice Dean Feng Hui, Associate Professor Lu Jiefeng, Assistant Professor Wang Lebing, Assistant Professor Kong Xiangwen, and Assistant Professor Lou Qiuran from UIBE Law School attended the ceremony. Guests from BLA, including Han Yinghui, vice president of BLA, Li Kai, deputy secretary general of BLA, Wang Zhengzhi, director of the BLA foreign affairs committee, Deputy Director Tian Yangang, Deputy Director Li Zheng and Secretary General Zheng Naiquan also attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was presided over by Director Wang Zhengzhi. 65 students are involved in this training class.

Professor Mei Xiaying, dean of UIBE Law School, delivered a speech. He extended a warm welcome to the guests and students attending the class opening ceremony. He believed that with the development of the national BRI strategy, there is an urgent need to establish a team that knows international rules, foreign languages, economics and can deal with various civil and commercial investment disputes and various international security and credit risks. UIBE Law School attaches great importance to this training and has carefully invited well-known experts at home and abroad with rich practical experience and profound theoretical foundation to provide lectures. It is hoped that students can improve their professional skills through this training and better serve the development of BRI.

Han Yinghui, vice president of BLA, introduced to the guests and participants the active efforts made by BLA in recent years in strengthening the construction of Beijing lawyers’ foreign-related legal service team and improving Beijing lawyers’ foreign-related legal service capacity, focusing on the multi-level foreign-related legal practice training system and related projects of BLA. She hopes that through this training, participating lawyers can more deeply understand the BRI relevant international legal system and communicate with relevant experts and scholars in this field to complement each other, to have learned something, and to become high-end international legal talents with international vision devoted to BRI legal services and to better serve the Chinese enterprises “moving outward”.
