UIBE Law School Alumna Shang Lin Joined the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group

Shang Lin, a 2016 undergraduate alumna of UIBE Law School, has recently been officially recruited by the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group as Legal Analyst in the Department of Law. International Finance Corporation (IFC) is one of the five member organizations of the World Bank Group and the largest global development institution dedicated to private sectors. Founded in 1956 and headquartered in Washington D.C., this organization has operated in more than 100 developing countries worldwide to promote job creation, tax revenue, corporate governance and environmental performance of enterprises and financial institutions in emerging markets, and contribute to local economies.

Shang Lin graduated from UIBE Law School in 2016 and received the degree of Magister Juris from the University of Oxford in 2017. Later she joined Clifford Chance LLP, UK. As a student of the “International Talents Experimental Class” of our school, she benefited greatly from the school’s international innovative talent training system and the diversified, multi-platform international economic and trade law teaching model. When she was an undergraduate student, Ms. Shang Lin actively participated in the ELSA-WTO and other international moot court competitions. She also took part in an exchange program and studied in Madrid, Spain with an outstanding academic record. The ideal of working in an international organization was rooted in her heart during four years’ study in UIBE Law School. After several years of continuous efforts, her unremitting pursuit of the cause of international economic and trade law has achieved initial success. With her excellent professional competence cultivated from undergraduate and postgraduate studies, Ms. Shang Lin has successfully worked in important international economic organization, becoming the latest example of our school’s strategy of training and promoting legal talents for international organizations.

UIBE Law School has always fulfilled the mission of training first-class legal talents in the field of foreign trade and economy. In line with national strategies, it has actively promoted legal talents to international organizations in recent years, including both internships and formal work opportunities. UIBE Law School is one of the three cooperative universities of International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT), which provides students with good internship opportunities. At the same time, it has established long-term and stable cooperation and exchange programs with international and regional organizations such as the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the World Trade Organization (WTO), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa (OHADA). In the past two years, there were 6 students of UIBE Law School receiving internships and short-term job opportunities from major international organizations, and alumna Shang Lin was offered a formal job from the international economic organization IFC this time.

UIBE Law School will further develop its traditional advantages and educational characteristics, strengthen its links with international organizations and create more opportunities for students to enter into international platforms, so as to truly meet the needs of global governance and national strategy.
