On the afternoon of December 28, 2017, the Ministry of Education's Degree and Graduate Education Development Center announced the results of the fourth round of the national college disciplinary assessments. UIBE’s law discipline was awarded A- in this evaluation.

The fourth round of disciplinary assessment of the Ministry of Education was carried out in 95 first-level disciplines in 2016 (excluding 16 disciplines such as military disciplines), with a total of 7,449 disciplines in 513 units. According to the principle of “precise calculation and classified presentation”, the top 70% disciplines are divided into 9 levels based on the scoring of their overall status.

Among the first-level disciplines of law, there are 40 universities with “doctoral authorization” in the country, and 38 of them participated in this evaluation; some universities with “master's authorization” also participated in the evaluation; there were in sum 144 colleges and universities participating in this evaluation.

UIBE Law School’s evaluation results have improved rapidly compared with previous years, ranking among the 14 A-class law schools (four of which are political and legal colleges), only after Renmin University of China, Peking University, Tsinghua University and Wuhan University Law School, with the same results as those of Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Jilin University, Xiamen University and Nanjing University Law School. This fully demonstrates that UIBE Law School has achieved outstanding achievements in the area of discipline construction and talent cultivation in recent years.

The achievements of UIBE Law School in this round of subject evaluation are the combined results of the school's steward leadership, the joint efforts of teachers and alumni, as well as the selfless dedication of the relevant functional departments of the school. At the same time, in September 2017, international law, as UIBE’s featured subject, entered the first-class construction discipline, and became one of the first of three “school-level two-tiered management system reform pilot colleges”. The Law School will further endeavor to lay a solid foundation, extracting its highlights and holding on to its main position of discipline construction. At the same time, it also strives to achieve key breakthroughs in talent cultivation, scientific research, social service, cultural inheritance and innovation, staff team building, international communication and cooperation, eventually realizing the goal of building first-level law subjects, and making more contributions to legal education in China.
